Work Begins on Luxury Apartments in Central Square at Watermark

Charleston, SC (October 2007) – Initial clearing and grading is now underway at Watermark’s Central Square, a 240-unit apartment community in the heart of Mt. Pleasant. Developed by Beach Watermark, LLC, an affiliate of The Beach Company, Central Square offers one-, two- and three-bedroom Class A rental units with complementary first-floor retail space.

The development features full-scale amenities and services that are configured with street-level storefronts along the Central Square main entry drive. The community further differentiates itself in the market through its premier unit interior finishes which include wood floors, granite island kitchens and stainless steel appliances.

Central Square consists of eight 3-story buildings designed to enhance the pedestrian nature of the Watermark neighborhood. On-street parking, large sidewalks and pocket parks are also featured throughout the site.

Additionally, the Town of Mt. Pleasant is nearing completion of Hungry Neck Boulevard Phase II, which will provide primary access to the Watermark neighborhood and the new South Atlantic headquarters for Mediterranean Shipping Company.

“Central Square at Watermark is a primary component of the overall neighborhood in that it provides a retail amenity that is complementary to the single-family and office components, while delivering a much needed and sought-after rental product to the Mt. Strategic partners in the development of the project are James, Harwick + Partners architects based in Dallas, Texas, CF Evans Construction general contractors and Gulf Stream Construction site contractors. Civil engineering is being coordinated by Thomas & Hutton Engineering, and DesignWorks, LC is the landscape/hardscape architect. The development is being financed by SunTrust Bank. The expected completion date for Central Square is Fall 2009.
