Proposed Mt. Pleasant Traditional Neighborhood Receives Town Council Approval

Charleston, SC (September 2005) – The Beach Company’s plans for a mixed-use traditional neighborhood community, located off of Bowman Road, near the center of the town limits, has received town approval from Mt. Pleasant Town Council. Construction on the master-planned neighborhood, to be called Watermark, is scheduled to begin by late fall 2005.

“Watermark will be a true pedestrian-oriented traditional neighborhood with a variety of different housing options, including single family homes, townhomes and apartments,” said Dan Doyle, Vice President of Development for The Beach Company. “Limited commercial space will also be included to afford neighborhood residents the opportunity to walk to their local retail shops.” In addition, Watermark will offer prospective residents access to a series of neighborhood parks, trialways and other amenities including a 33-acre lake and community pool. “A significant feature of the development is that half of the homesites are located on the waterfront, a highly sought after feature in the Charleston market.”

Watermark is currently scheduled for its first release of homesites and townhomes in early Spring 2006. Sales for the community will be coordinated by Beach Residential, the residential brokerage division of The Beach Company, with offices located in The Shoppes at Seaside Farms in Mt. Pleasant. The neighborhood will consist of 118 traditional single-family homesites and 39 single-family attached townhomes. Future phases will include multi-family apartments and commercial space.

The Beach Company, founded in Charleston in 1945, has honored a tradition of responsibility and excellence in providing top quality real estate products and services for communities, businesses, industry and most importantly families across the Charleston Lowcountry and Southeast Region.
